Why are my slab floors sinking and settling?

Interior slab floors sink and settle for many reasons. The most common causes of this include: water seepage, shifting soil, poor design work, excavation work nearby, and differential settlement of nearby structures.
Water seepage is a major cause of interior slab floors sagging and sinking. Water can seep through the floor, into the foundation, and then into the subflooring. The subflooring is likely to be affected by this water damage and may become warped or cracked as a result. This, in turn, can lead to uneven settling of the interior slab flooring. Water seepage can also cause mould and mildew growth and issues with the structural integrity of your home or business.
Shifting soil is another common cause of interior slab floors settling unevenly over time. As buildings settle into the ground around them, they tend to pull away from their foundations slightly as they settle into place.
